42nd Military Police Group (Source: Frank Taylor, 582nd Trans Co, Mannheim) This photo was taken by Frank Taylor, who was sent TDY to Carl Schurz Kaserne in 1970. As a member of the 582nd Transportation Company at Coleman Barracks, Mannheim, he was in Bremerhaven to oversee a shipment (via RORO cargo ship) of CH-34s back to the States after having been replaced by UH-1's. The photo is very interesting as it shows the customs shacks outside of the back gate at CSK that are mentioned in Richard Fletcher's article. (The shack on the left was used by the Customs MPs.) In addition, its shows Area 6000 that was used to stage military vehicles mentioned in Ulrich Urban's post on the Bremerhaven POE Page. And, finally, you can see the CH-34 helicopters that were being shipped back to the States in the background.
